Holy Week at Grace

Grace Lutheran Church was beautifully transformed for Holy Week, becoming a vibrant and meaningful place of worship and reflection. We began the week with Palm Sunday, as the congregation gathered to celebrate Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem, waving fronds of palm leaves. The service opened with a moving processional into the sanctuary, setting the tone for the days ahead. Following worship, we came together for a delicious Easter brunch and our annual Easter egg hunt for the children - a joyful and festive morning for all.

On Maundy Thursday, we shared in a dinner church experience alongside other local congregations. Together, we enjoyed a meal inspired by Palestinian cuisine before entering into a deeply meaningful service reflecting on Peter’s experience at the Last Supper and his betrayal of Jesus. We were reminded that Peter’s story is, in many ways, our own. As part of the service, we wrote down where we feel called to serve and the names of those we love, placing dissolvable paper into water as a symbol of offering these to God. On Good Friday, we gathered in quiet reverence, remembering Christ’s sacrifice. These moving services invited us into a space of humility, reflection, and shared faith.

Holy Week ended with the joyful celebration of Easter Sunday. The sanctuary was filled with vibrant flowers, and the congregation proclaimed, “Alleluia! He is risen! He is risen indeed!” as we rejoiced in the resurrection of our Savior. The service was enriched by a variety of special musical offerings, and we extend our heartfelt gratitude to all who contributed their time and talents to make Easter such a meaningful and beautiful celebration.
