Stewardship - All members of Grace are stewards. Stewardship is encouraged through holistic giving to and through a Christian community.
Pledging - Pledging helps members plan their giving and helps the congregation develop a realistic spending plan. All members are asked in the late fall to complete a pledge indicating their intentions for giving in the coming year.

ELCA WORLD HUNGER
Dear Friends in Christ,
This is the first email in a series of periodic communications to you relating to the impact and importance of our collective efforts in giving to Grace Community.
Throughout the first quarter of this year there were a number of Noisy Offerings where the congregation has had the opportunity to give loose change to a special offering. Each year, we try and design the noisy offerings around a theme that is relevant and important. By donating to a specific purpose, we get a sense of relevance and it contributes to the Christian education of our children who participate in Sunday School and the collection of the offering. This year's theme is World Hunger.
The Noisy Offerings have been combined with the special offerings of Holy Week (traditionally used to support World Hunger), and designated giving to World Hunger. Our offerings for World Hunger now total $1,555.46.
The ELCA World Hunger effort is a comprehensive and sustainable program that uses multiple strategies - relief, development, education, and advocacy to address the root causes of hunger and poverty. The relief portion of this program is centered around responding to the immediate needs of people who are homeless, living in poverty, or otherwise don't have means to support themselves. Another critical element of the program is sustainable development, the element of work done during and after relief to ensure the long term viability of a community that experiences hunger, poverty or widespread health issues.
We thank those who have given their generously to this effort and look forward to expanding our Stewardship efforts. In the future you will be receiving these emails. If you miss any emails or wish to see the value of our Stewardship efforts, please visit our newly designed website at http://www.gracemendham.org/stewardship.html.

Your Stewardship Committee
