In
January
1966,
the
Board
of
Missions
of
the
American
Lutheran
Church
purchased
Graces
present
property
at
65
East
Main
Street
in
Mendham,
New
Jersey
and
incorporation
papers
were
signed
on
February
14.
Pastor
William
Rosenow
accepted
the
call
and
he
and
his
family
moved
into
the
newly
acquired
Parsonage
at
13
Country
Lane
in
January
1967.
The
first
group
of
prospective
members
met
on
February
3,
1967
for
a
progressive
dinner
and
began
making
plans
for
the
months
ahead.
The
first
CHANNELS
of
Grace
was
printed
and
other
firsts
followed
quickly:
the
Youth
Group
met,
the
first
choir
rehearsed
at
the
parsonage
and
Graces
first
service
of
public
worship
was
held
on
March
5
at
the
Brookside
Community
Club,
with
56
persons
attending
in
spite
of
a
late
winter
storm.
Besides
meeting
weekly
for
worship
and
study,
the
future
charter
members
met
almost
every
night
to
work
on
the
interior
of
the
hexagon-shaped
Church,
build
the
chancel
furniture,
paint
the
walls,
design
and
sew
all
the
robes,
vestments,
paraments
and
stoles,
clean
the
building
and
begin
landscaping.
A
steering
committee
was
formed
to
propose
a
constitution
for
the
Church
and
nominated
the
first
Church
Council.
